Ive considered 2 of these careers also. I wanted to be a cosmetic dermatologist also but to much school. Im a senior now and now im deciding between Dentistry and Pharmacy. Anyways heres the information.
Dermatology
The median expected salary for a typical Physician in Dermatology in the United States is $196,603.
To become a dermatologist, one must graduate from college (typically 4 years) and then medical school (typically 4 more years). He or she must then complete a dermatology residency (typically 4 years).
Dentistry
According to the American Dental Association, the average general dentist made 185,000 in 2004, the average dental specialist made 315,000. Most dentist have their own place of practice though.
Eight years of college and dental school studies are usually necessary for a degree of Doctor of Dental surgery (D.D.S.) or Doctor of Dental Medice (D.M.D.). However, with high grades and test scores it is possible to jump ahead and enter dentistry school after completion of your 2yr pre med.
Psychology
The median expected salary for a typical psychologist in the United States is $72,487
It really depends on what kind of psychologist you want to become. If you wanted to go the therapy route, the minimum amount of schooling required would be a Master’s degree, so 4 years for a Bachelor’s then 2-3 more for a Master’s. You would also have to pass your state’s licensing requirements plus about 6 months of an unpaid assistanceship. So total, 7 years at the earliest. If you wanted to go another route, such as a clinical psychologist or forensic or pretty much anything else the degree requirement would be a Ph.D, which is 5 years beyond a Bachelor’s degree plus any kind of licensing that is required and a successful dissertation defense.
